Per Volare Serve l’Aria

2026, solo show at Primo Marella Gallery, Milano

The aerial element runs through the works and connects them, suggesting an ascensional dimension that is as spiritual as it is material. Human experience engages with the processes of the natural world, which in the works become capable of touching the unconscious and, without needing to be fully explained, of conveying the feelings and tensions that accompany moments of transformation, loss, encounter and passage. These are fundamental experiences in the construction of our identity, which can be traversed on one’s own or in relation to others.

Qualche goccia nel vento c’era

74 rotating plastic cylinders, sea sand, motors, cables, 280 x 1000 x 20 cm, 2026

Transparent plastic cylinders rotate continuously. Inside, sea sand collides, producing a sound similar to that of waves on the shore, as if the sand retained a memory of its place of origin.

Flying needs air

2026, polyethylene, leather, brass, glass, pigeon feathers, fan activated by the recording of an old woman’s breath, steel, cable, power bank; 85x80x300 cm

Two heat-molded polyethylene and leather sculptures rest on the floor. Their organic forms recall drapery and carcasses. A brass tube extends from the first, ending in a small fan whose rhythm is dictated by the recorded breath of an elderly woman, translating an inaudible sound into movement. The air blown by the fan attempts to move two pigeon feathers attached to tubes emerging from the second sculpture, making their movement appear effortful. A recorded breath returns as air, embodying a form of heritage.

Traiettoria di una caduta

Brass, glass, pigeon feather,  170 x 147 x 50 cm, 2026

A pigeon feather is placed at the end of a bundle of brass tubes. Its course suggests a downward movement.

Scirocco Barocco

2026, Thermoformed polyethylene, brass, glass, air-dispersed seeds, pigeon feathers, buttons.

Scirocco Barocco is a cycle of sculptures made from brass, polyethylene, glass, feathers, and wind-dispersed seeds. The polyethylene was shaped using hot air, creating Baroque drapery that seems inhabited by the wind. Whereas in the Baroque period the drapery enveloped central figures such as saints or nobles, here that center of power disappears, replaced by the natural element, onto which the gathered organic materials are grafted. Beautiful things fading away (encounter)

2024, rotating dry thistles, brass pipes, motors, cables, power supplies, life-size

Two dried thistles rotate, occasionally touching and producing a sound of friction. Artificial brass extensions stretch out like stems, with electrical wires running through them, resembling an electric nervous system that has replaced the plant’s lymphatic system. Their dance is sometimes gentle, violent, amusing, romantic, melancholic, erotic, and raw, reflecting the wide range of possibilities in the dynamics of an encounter.
