Bells breathe wildly

2019, Sound installation in Water Tower

In the village of Guilmi I recorded and then processed the sound of the bells. This manipulation involves canceling out the tolling of the bells, retaining only the intermediate vibrations, and subsequently blending them into a single continuous track. The aim was to emulate the fluid rhythm of flowing water in the resulting track. The original sounds were recorded in the Bell Tower of Guilmi. Subsequently, the final track was played inside the Water Tower of the same village, diffusing the new rhythm of the bells throughout the surrounding landscape.

Bells breathe wildly is a work made during the Guilmi Art Project residency, curated by Lucia Giardino and Federico Bacci, Guilmi (CH), Italy.
